Is any one else using Provera?

Okay, My doctor put me on Provera because my period is extremely heavy (like it can go through a super tampon). Well, it hasn't worked at all. My period is twice as long and just as heavy. I've also read that if provera doesn't to control the bleeding that the next option would be a Hysterectomy (not that it matters since my tubes are tied). Its just aggravating that I have such a heavy and long period for no reason at all.
