Boyfriend might get sacked is there anything he can do if he gets sacked?

my boyfriend has been in his job for about 10months,he is a night porter in a hotel, he was told other day to dress smarter but its the work uniform he wear,(black shoes, trousers and white shirt with red tie) they are clean on every day and ironed, told he needs a hair cut but is hair is short and tidy, he was told on sunday that the emplyer had his job up in the job Centre but took it right back down, manager was asking other people about the way he looks and his work, but he does everything he is ment to do when he is in Eg. wash dish's, tidy, set tables, clean, check people in and out, make breakfast in the morning ect so he is doing everything right so cant understand, if they did sack him what could he do about it? he does not have a contact should they have gave him one? any other info on what to do for the best plz let me know??
