Can't watch any kind of movie format...?

I just reinstalled Windows xp on my PC and after instaling the other necessary programs and drivers I wanted to watch a movie. When I tried doing that Win Media Player wasn't responding and quitted without any explication. I tought maybe it's because of the movie format so I tried with another player with same result... I used codecs, other video formats, but still I can't watch anything... Can anyone help me? :( Sorry for my bad english...:)
