Another prob with new Messenger, it keeps going off.. no messages saved etc. it's a disaster?

I recenly installed the highly aclaimed new Messenger, it's now going off all the time... whether i'm connected or not... no messages can get thru or be saved consequently. When i go offline it disappears.. it's a disaster
